これはセレーナゴメスの「Wolves」という歌である。僕がこの曲に知り合ったのはマレーシアのクアラルンプールからベトナムダナンへ向かう飛行機の帰り際に耳にした。サビの箇所に入ると抑揚が強くなるこの曲はとても印象的だった。その時僕はこの曲が誰に歌われいているかどのような歌詞なのか知ることもなく、飛行機から降り、ベトナムの地に踏み入れる。ベトナムではさまざな出会いもあった。宿泊したホテルで働いてる大学生と将来の夢について語ったことやドラゴン橋を渡ったその先にある小さなカフェを営む気さくな女性と英語とベトナム語を混じり合った会話をした。帰り際にも顔を出し、別れの挨拶もした。そしてベトナムダナン空港からマレーシアクアラルンプール空港へ向かう飛行機で耳にしたのはこの曲である。まったく同じだ。私は手に持っていたIPHONEを起動させSIRIにこの曲を読み込ませた。そのとき初めてこの曲が誰によって作曲されたか知った。日本に帰国し、この曲を聴くと旅での出会いや別れが揚々とした曲のメロディーとともに脳内で回想される。
